A Future Beyond Bars
We are proud to continue our ongoing collaboration with the Design Against Crime Research Centre at University of the Arts London, using the power of design to create opportunities for rehabilitation. You can read more about our work with HMP Isis and Untold here.
This work has continued to develop and contributed to Making Time – Every Prison a Creative Hub, an exhibition highlighting the role of creativity in transforming the lives of incarcerated individuals.
The Making Time exhibition, co-curated by Professor Lorraine Gamman and Rex Gardner of Love Print, showcased the creative outcomes of these co-production engagements. The exhibition opened in December 2004 and runs until February 2025 at the Hoxtonian Gallery, and served as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of design and creativity within the prison system. Special talks and events were hosted at the gallery and invitees included James Timpson, Minister of State for Prisons, Probation and Reducing Reoffending.
Our work with UAL and the Design Against Crime Research centre continues to challenge perceptions of how design can be used as a tool for social change. Through education, collaboration, and creative empowerment, we hope to inspire a future where every prison is a hub of opportunity, rather than a place of confinement.
As this journey unfolds, we remain committed to exploring how design can reshape narratives, empower individuals, and ultimately, help build a more inclusive society.
