Power in Practice

Fair Work at Here is about creating the conditions where people can contribute, challenge, and grow with clarity and confidence. It’s about shared responsibility – clear frameworks that give individuals real agency, and a culture that encourages people to use it well.

Over recent years, we have focused on building the structures that make this possible: clear roles and responsibilities, fair and transparent processes, regular dialogue, and meaningful ways for our team to influence how the studio operates.

Clear Frameworks, Shared Ownership

We’ve continued to embed a comprehensive and consistent approach to performance and development across the studio. Clear job descriptions and role expectations provide a shared understanding of responsibilities and progression, helping individuals connect their contribution to Here’s wider mission.

Our biannual appraisal cycle (Spring and Autumn) is designed as a two-way conversation. Team members reflect on their achievements and challenges, while line managers draw on 360 feedback and calibration sessions to ensure decisions are balanced, evidence-led, and fair. This structure helps reduce bias, build trust in the process, and support accountability at every level.

In 2025, this approach was strengthened through the introduction of our Operating Principles and a refined Values & Behaviours framework. Together, these tools clarify how we work, how decisions are made, and what we expect of one another – creating consistency without limiting creativity.

Making It Easier to Do the Right Thing

We continue to invest in systems that support autonomy rather than bureaucracy.

The adoption of HiBob as our HRIS has streamlined people processes, reduced administrative burden, and created a single source of reference for development, feedback, and progression. This allows managers and team members to focus on what matters most: open conversations, clear priorities, and sustainable performance.

In response to team feedback, we have also refined our processes to be lighter, more focused, and easier to engage with – continuously working to remove friction where it gets in the way of meaningful work.

Listening, Responding, Improving

Fair work relies on people being heard – and seeing that their input leads to action.

In 2025, we trialled a work-from-anywhere period, shaped directly by employee feedback to ensure it was implemented thoughtfully, equitably, and in a way that supported both individual autonomy and team effectiveness.

We continue to gather insight through open, in-person conversations, and will undertake a further engagement survey to track sentiment, test how changes are landing across the studio, and measure progress against earlier benchmarks. This ongoing feedback loop helps ensure Governance remains visible, accountable, and open to challenge, while giving the team a clear route to influence how the studio evolves.

Fair work at Here is not about grand gestures. It’s about practical systems, open dialogue, and giving people the tools – and the trust – to shape the studio together.
